December 1, 2017
Dear IJP Families,
As the weather changes, please remember to have your child wear a jacket to school as we will continue to go out for recess all days that we can until the weather becomes too cold. Hats and gloves on cold days are needed as well. Encourage your child, especially the older ones, to put on their jackets before going to recess or leaving for the day. Too many students are still coming to school in just their fleeces or sweatshirts.
Just a reminder, the online IJP Spiritwear Holiday Ordering window ends Sunday, December 3rd. All orders will be delivered to school for pick up prior to Christmas vacation. Flyers were send home on Monday with your child. Click here for the link. Type IJP (all caps) in the MY TEAM STORE area to reach our Spiritwear order form.
The Catholic High School Entrance Exam is tomorrow, Saturday, 12/2. If your 8th grade child is taking the exam, remember to bring in the Release of Records form that is handed out at the end of the exam. We cannot release academic information to any high school without the signed form. This leads to delays in acceptance and scholarship decisions. Good luck to all the students!
We are hosting a Prospective Student Shadow Day on Monday, December 4th. If you know a family that is looking at school options for next fall, please reach out and have them contact Peggy Dull in the School Office.
Join us next Friday, December 8th at 10 am for All School Mass as we observe the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Please take the time to stay up to date on daily happenings and latest news by looking at the home page on the school website and by following IJP School on Facebook.
Our music program continues to flourish at IJP! We have a great opportunity to perform our Christmas Concert in a wonderful setting again this year. Our Junior, Senior, and Symphonic Bands, along with the Kingmen Choir and Show Choir, will perform at the Marian Catholic High School Auditorium on Tuesday, December 12th at 7:00 pm. Please come and support our talented musicians.
Join us as we celebrate the season with our traditional Christmas program on Tuesday, December 19th at 7:00 pm in the Church. Mrs. Barnick, the IJP choirs, musicians, narrators, and all the students have been working very hard to present this year’s production. Take time to pause and reflect on the reason for the season as we await the wondrous coming of the Lord.
The PTO sponsored Christmas Pizza Lunch is Thursday, December 21st. Just a reminder that the kitchen is closed on that day. Students may wear jeans, and a red, green or appropriate Christmas shirt to celebrate the last full day of the school year and the beginning of Christmas vacation. The school gym shoe policy still applies.
There will be No School on Friday, December 22nd. This is a change in the published school calendar as a teacher in-service was added. Students will have a regular school day on Thursday, 12/21. There will be Extended Day Care before and after school on Thursday as well.
We will be hosting our second Open House for prospective students on Thursday, February 1st during Catholic Schools Week. If you know of a family that is looking at school options for next fall, please hand them our Open House postcard and encourage them to stop by and see what IJP has to offer. Write your name on the postcard and if the family comes to Open House and enrolls in our school, your family will receive an incentive reward!
Peace to you as we begin this Advent Season,
