Pancake Breakfast

February 15, 2018

Dear IJP Families;

The first two weeks of February have come and gone in a blink of an eye! On the heels of Catholic Schools Week, we are re-registering our current families, accepting applications from new families, working on next year’s school calendar, and wrapping up the end of the 2nd Trimester next Friday, February 23rd. The students have been testing their knowledge about Black History month, and competing in their homerooms with the Student Council sponsored trivia contest. We are also beginning the season of Lent, preparing for the upcoming Aspire test in April and the 7th grade trip to Springfield in May.

Time goes by so fast. Take a few moments to catch up over the dinner table, in the car, or between practices, to ask about all the amazing things your child is doing in school. I am so proud of our students at IJP.

-----------------------------

With the cold weather, it has been hard on the students not to be able to go outside for recess often.  Indoor recess presents its own set of challenges and does not allow for a lot of movement. Teachers are doing their best to give the students downtime and exercise, while maintaining an acceptable volume level as all grades do not have lunch/recess at the same time.  Please help by reinforcing the importance of moderation in voice level. Is there a favorite board game that your child likes to play? Maybe friends could take turns bringing in a game to play together during this indoor recess time.

Also, make sure your child comes to school in appropriate outerwear for the cold weather. Winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves/mittens are essential in this cold weather.  We do go outside for recess as temperature allows.

Congratulations to our winners of the VFW Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest, Madison Davis (6th grade), Robert Jackson (7th grade), and Ohahuru Yejekwe (8th grade). The students will be honored and receive an award from the Homewood VFW at a pizza party on President’s Day. Great job!

There is No School Friday, February 16th due to Faculty In-Service and No School on Monday, February 19th due to the President’s Day holiday.

IJP Trivia Night is quickly approaching!  Our Hawaiian theme is so fun and the competition between tables is fierce. Come join us on Saturday, February 24th. We are trying to raise money for new Chromebooks for the computer carts.  Bring a whole table or just a few.  You won’t be disappointed!  See attached flyer for more information. (LINK)

The 2nd Trimester ends on Friday, February 23rd.  Report cards are scheduled to go home on March 2nd.  Report cards are not released to families with any delinquent balances or fees and will be held in the School Office.  If you are unsure of monies owed, please contact Mrs. Dull in the office.

The 2018-19 Registration Fee is due on Friday, March 16th. Tuition information and registration forms were sent home prior to Christmas. It is vital to the planning of personnel and class size to have an accurate picture for next year.  If you are unsure about returning or are moving, please let us know as well.

Spring Pictures are right around the corner.  On Wednesday, March 7th, PreK through 7th grade will take pictures that will include a sibling option as well.  Flyers were sent home last week!

8th Grade Graduation Picture Make-up day is also on March 7th.  If you were absent or need a re-take, please let the school office know.

Daddy-Daughter Dance Registration is in full swing! The dance will be held on Friday, March 9th at Idlewild Country Club. Pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is March 1st. Please get your reservations in as soon as possible for this amazing event. (LINK)

Have a wonderful long weekend, enjoy your kids, and Go Kingsmen!

Peace,

Natalie Formica

PTO News

Trivia Night is approaching and will take place on Saturday, February 24th.  We are in need of volunteers to help throughout the night.  Just as our PTO Fundraisers are important of us to raise money for our teachers and students, this School Fundraiser, is important for the school to raise much needed funds for school improvements.

This is a great opportunity for those of you who cannot commit during school hours to volunteer and be a part of the school community.

If you would like to join in the Fun instead we encourage you to participate in this fun event!  A table is $100, which breaks down to $10 per person, grab a group of friends!!
