PTO News

The IJP PTO is in need of volunteers interested in joining the Board.  The PTO’s role is to offer programs and funds that will enrich and supplement the educational programs in place at IJP.  We are able to do this by fundraising throughout the year.  By joining the Board you have a voice in the activities and programs we offer.  You are able to connect with other parents throughout the IJP Community.  And, you learn the difference we make in the students and teachers school experience each school year.

Catholic Schools Week will begin January 28th with the kick off of the Scholastic Book Fair after Masses.  We will be looking for Volunteers to help throughout the week.  We will also have a Fun Lunch on Friday February 2nd, information will be sent home on Tuesday.

Please contact Shannon Mayronne at slm15@comcast.net or (708) 768-6756 for more information

Dear IJP Families;

Happy New Year and Welcome Back!  This week we have jumped back into learning with renewed energy and focus. We have been blessed with relatively moderate weather so far this winter while school is in session.  I do not know how long our luck will hold out.  It is never an easy decision to keep the school open or to close during inclement weather nor is it a decision we take lightly. We take into consideration what the local elementary school and high school district is doing and what is best for the vast majority of our student population. As parents, you always have the ultimate decision on whether or not your child attends school on inclement weather days that school remains open. Always remember to call your child in if they will be absent.

Meanwhile, the Second Trimester Mid-term is today.  Mid-term grades will be available via PowerSchool on Monday. If you have any concerns, please contact the teacher to have a discussion. Working together is what makes for a positive and rewarding school experience. #OnwardIJP!

A few thoughts and reminders:

School is closed this coming Monday, January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Best wishes and weather for all those participating in the many service projects going on in the local community during this annual Day of Service.

Also for 8th Grade: Graduation pictures will be Tuesday, January 23th.  A VanGogh flyer was sent home with all 8th grade students a short time ago. Students may be out of uniform and wear their picture clothes on that day.

Speaking of volunteers…my heartfelt thanks and gratitude goes out to the brave and stalwart parking lot volunteers who have been keeping our children safe and traffic flowing. Please follow their directions.  It is a hard job and I thank God for you and keep you in my prayers!

A note from Nurse Crocilla: As a reminder, whenever a student has had an episode of vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever of 100.0 degrees or higher, he/she must be 24 hours free of the episode before returning to school.  Also, if a student has been diagnosed with conjunctivitis (pink eye), he/she may return to school 24 hours after treatment begins. Thank you for your cooperation with the policy.

The February Hot Lunch Menu was sent home today. Please complete the form and return by January 17th. Click here for link to menu.

IJP School will be hosting an Informational Open House on Sunday, January 28th from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm for new families interested in finding out what great programs our school has to offer.  If you know a family looking for a school for next year, please pass along the information.

Catholic Schools Week 2018 is quickly approaching.  We have a busy week planned beginning with Masses and hospitality on Sunday, January 28th through Friday, February 2nd. Stay tuned for more information about Open House Showcase, Wax Museum, Science Fair, Grandparent Morning, and more! Detailed flyer will be posted next week.

Peace and blessings to you as we begin 2018.
