Dear IJP Families;

As I write, we have just finished up our annual IJP School Walk-a-Thon today. The sun was shining and the temperature just perfect! This is a great opportunity for the students to come together, Pre-school through 8th grade, and hike with a purpose.  Not only does it get everyone out and moving, but the money raised helps offset costs of school programs. Thank you to all who organized and volunteered to keep the kids “on-track”. And a big thanks to everyone who pledged and sponsored a student!

A reminder that all Walk-a-Thon pledge money should be turned into the school office next week so we may tally our fundraising efforts. We are grateful for everyone who participated!

Congratulations to the Junior High Students who participated in the IJAS State Science Fair last weekend. Over 1010 projects and 165 papers were represented at the fair from school across the state of Illinois. This year the State Science Fair was held at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.  IJP had 12 students making 16 presentations

Awards went to:

  • Nina Calkins --- a Silver Award for the Poster & a Gold for her Paper
  • Christina Cortes --- a Silver Award for the Poster Session
  • Maggie Cutrara --- a Gold Award for Poster Session.
  • Athena Davis ---- a Silver Award for the Poster Session
  • Kyla Flint --- a Silver Award for the Poster Session
  • Andrew Hale  --- a Gold Award  for his Poster Session
  • David Helsel --- a Gold Award for the Poster & Silver for Paper Sessions.
  • Jenna Moore --- a Gold Award for the Poster Session
  • Isabella Romans --- two Gold Awards for Paper & Poster Session
  • Nataleigh Russell --- a Gold Award at the Poster Session
  • Erica Sledge --- a Gold Award for the Poster Session & Silver for her Paper

Also, Erica was nominated for a Specials Award in Chemistry

  • Teddy Seese --- Gold Award at the Paper Session

This means that our 12 students won First & Second Place in the State of Illinois for Science competing against 1,010 of the best science students in the state. Congratulations to all our participants. We are proud and thrilled for you, but more importantly, you should be proud of your accomplishment!

Our IJP Kingsmen Choir and Show Choir will be hosting their Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 16th at 7 pm.  Everyone has been working hard to prepare for the event. Please join us in the gym for a wonderful evening of entertainment! The Show Choir continues their community performances at Coyote Run/Wiley’s Grill on Tuesday, May 23rd at 6 pm.

Next Wednesday, the students of the 8th grade will lead the school community in prayer through the performance of the Living Rosary at 1:45 pm.  As they prepare to celebrate and graduate, it is a true blessing to watch our 8th graders lead others and act out their faith and to show what mature young women and men they have become. God Bless to all!

The end of the year PTO sponsored event will take place on Thursday, May 18th.  This year we will again be attending a Windy City Thunderbolts baseball game for their annual “School Days” game. A sack lunch will be needed for all on that day. This event takes place during the school day and all staff will be chaperoning. Students will not have access to the concession stand. The building will be closed during school hours. If your child is not attending the event, alternate arrangements will need to be made for child care. Before and after school care will still be available for students. Permission Forms were sent home. (LINK) All permission slips should be in by Monday.

Calling all boys in 4th through 7th grade!  There will be a Boys Night Out in the IJP Gym on Friday, May 19th from 6-9 pm. Several dads and coaches are hosting a night of fun with basketball, football toss, music, and food. (LINK) A hard copy of the flyer will be sent home on Monday as well. Contact Will Ross for more info at or 708.856.1280. Dads/Guardians are welcome (and encouraged) to attend.

8th Grade Chromebook Turn-in: will take place on Wednesday, May 17th. Please make sure your student has their Chromebook, charger, and case on that day. If there is anything wrong with the Chromebook/charger/case, it needs to be reported to Mrs. Bohne at that time so repairs can be done. Please completely empty the cases and make sure you take any USB devices out of the Chromebook.

7th and 6th grade Chromebook turn in to follow the last week of May.

At this point of the school year, all tuition should be paid in full. Please check your records for last payments and make arrangements for final outstanding fees for Extended Day and lunch balances.  The new 10-month plan for the 2017-18 school year begins in July.  Registration and Packet Turn-in date will be Tuesday, July 11th.  All information packets will be sent home with your student at the end of the school year. There will be Extended Day on the last day of school, June 2nd.  Before and After Care will be at the regular time.  The last day of school is a full day with regular lunch periods and classes.

If you filled out the PTO Volunteer Opportunities Flyer that was sent home with the students several months ago, we will be in contact soon. We are currently working on the Calendar of Events for the 2017-2018 School Year.  If you did not, there will be one in the School Registration Envelope that will go home shortly with the students.  

We appreciate all your help with our events!  There are Executive Board Positions open.  Please consider joining us to enrich your child's education through the Events and Fundraisers we host.
