Dear IJP Families;

Runners & walkers there is still time to register for IJP's Trek for Tech 5K on Saturday, May 6th. @ 8 am. There is Day-Of Race Registration before the 5K begins at the sign-in table.

The Spring Band Concert will take place next Tuesday, May 9th at 7 pm in the Gym.  Please come out for a delightful evening of music.  The students have progressed so much this year and are eager to show off their skills. The Spring Choir concert will be upcoming on May 16th. More information in next week’s newsletter.

8th grade parents: A friendly reminder from the 8th Grade Memory Book committee to please upload your child’s photos into the Memory Book Dropbox. The due date has now passed and we are in a time crunch. Please contact the Memory Book committee if you are in need of assistance or if you have any questions. The success of the Memory Book depends on everyone getting the pictures in!

8th grade parents: A letter went home with your child at the beginning of last week detailing 8th grade activities for May and graduation. If you did not receive it, click here. If you have any questions, please contact me, the school office, or an 8th grade room parent.

We cordially invite you to attend the first-ever IJP Student Art Show at Union Street Gallery, 1527 Otto Blvd, Chicago Heights, on Wednesday, May 10th through Friday, May 12th.  Art pieces from various students have been selected throughout the year for the show. There will be a closing reception on Friday evening from 6-9 pm. Mr. Seidel will be on hand that evening to answer questions about the show and his vision for student artists.

The annual school Walk-a-Thon is quickly approaching.  Friday, May 12th is the date! Please see the information flyer that was sent home with your child for details.  The pledge sheet and prize information can also be found for download on the school website shortly. Walk-a-Thon will take place from 9:30 am until 11:00 am. The students will then continue with the rest of the school day.

The end of the year PTO sponsored event will take place on Thursday, May 18th.  This year we will again be attending a Windy City Thunderbolts baseball game for their annual “School Days” game. A sack lunch will be needed for all on that day. This event takes place during the school day and all staff will be chaperoning. Students will not have access to the concession stand. The building will be closed during school hours. If your child is not attending the event, alternate arrangements will need to be made for child care. Before and after school care will still be available for students. Permission Forms were sent home last week.

At this point of the school year, all tuition should be paid in full. Please check your records for last payments and make arrangements for final outstanding fees for Extended Day and lunch balances.  The new 10-month plan for the 2017-18 school year begins in July.  Registration and Packet Turn-in date will be Tuesday, July 11th.  All information packets will be sent home with your student at the end of the school year. There will be Extended Day on the last day of school, June 2nd.  Before and After Care will be at the regular time.  The last day of school is a full day with regular lunch periods and classes.

The tentative 2017-2018 School Year calendar is posted on the school website under “Current Students”, “Forms and Links”.  This is a skeleton calendar with start and end dates and school break dates for your use in planning. We are still planning for next year so, as always, the tentative calendar is subject to change.

Mother's Day is approaching!  If you need a delicious Butter Braid Pastries please contact Shannon Mayronne at slim15@comcast.net or (708) 768-6756.  We have limited quantities of the breads:  Apple, Blueberry with Cream Cheese, Carmel Rolls, Cherry, Cream Cheese, Raspberry, Strawberry, and Four Cheese & Herb.   

If you filled out the PTO Volunteer Opportunities Flyer that was sent home with the students several months ago, we will be in contact soon. We are currently working on the Calendar of Events for the 2017-2018 School Year.  If you did not, there will be one in the School Registration Envelope that will go home shortly with the students.  

We appreciate all your help with our events!  There are Executive Board Positions open.  Please consider joining us to enrich your child's education through the Events and Fundraisers we host.
