Pre K
At Infant Jesus of Prague, our Pre-K program nurtures the whole child—spiritually, academically, socially, and creatively. Children learn that Jesus loves them and is their friend, growing in faith through Bible stories from Stories of God’s Love and visits to our parish church to learn about Mass. Through hands-on activities, students express their creativity with paint, crayons, and other art materials, while also developing fine motor skills through Play-Doh, cutting, and small manipulatives.
Academically, students build a strong foundation in early literacy and math. Using Splash Into Pre-K and weekly library time, they develop pre-reading skills, letter recognition, and a love of books. Math lessons include number recognition, shapes, patterns, sequencing, and basic addition. Science comes alive through Scholastic’s My Big World and interactive experiments that encourage curiosity, observation, and prediction. Socially, children practice cooperation, sharing, and communication during play and learning centers that include iPads, blocks, dramatic play, and small-group work with teachers. Technology is integrated daily through one-to-one iPads and Promethean boards, and students are introduced to Spanish through online books, games, and activities. Physical development and coordination are supported through playground time and P.E. classes twice a week. Throughout the year, students engage in real-world experiences—such as field trips to the zoo, fire station, and apple orchard—and enjoy seasonal celebrations with the help of classroom parent volunteers, making Pre-K at IJP a joyful and enriching start to their educational journey.
Primary
At Infant Jesus of Prague, our Primary Division (Kindergarten through Grade 2) focuses on building a strong foundation for lifelong learning—academically, socially, and spiritually. Families are encouraged to support strong reading habits at home through daily reading, visiting museums, exploring science kits, and playing educational games that spark curiosity. In the classroom, students learn the importance of positive behavior, including following directions, listening, and taking turns, while developing a growth mindset that celebrates effort, curiosity, and resilience.
Academically, children master foundational phonics by fluently blending consonant and vowel sounds and expanding their sight word knowledge. They learn spelling patterns such as silent “e” blends, hold books correctly, follow print from left to right, and begin writing short sentences with proper punctuation and grammar. Students read with expression to strengthen comprehension, identify sequence and character traits, and recognize cause and effect. Writing expands into narrative, opinion, and informational texts, encouraging creativity and confidence. In math, students understand basic addition and subtraction, compare numbers and quantities using symbols (<, >, =), measure lengths and units, and explore place values up
to 1,000. They also begin early multiplication concepts through arrays and skip counting. Together, these experiences in the Primary Division help students grow into capable, curious, and compassionate learners ready to thrive in the next stages of their education.
Intermediate
At Infant Jesus of Prague, our Intermediate Division (Grades 3–5) forms a vibrant community of curious, confident learners and serves as an essential bridge between the primary and middle school years. This division emphasizes independence, leadership, and responsibility, helping students grow academically and personally as they prepare for future success. Instruction is departmentalized, meaning students have the opportunity to learn from specialized teachers in different subject areas, providing valuable experience transitioning between classrooms and adapting to a variety of teaching styles and learning environments.
Teachers in the Intermediate Division personalize instruction to meet each child’s individual needs, using data and observation to guide lessons and celebrate progress. Students strengthen their reading comprehension, writing, and problem-solving skills across all subjects while engaging in hands-on, inquiry-based science and interactive social studies projects that connect history, geography, and civics. Technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the day to encourage creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Through experiences in our STEAM lab, students engage in real-world learning and STEM activities that inspire critical thinking and curiosity. In every classroom, teachers foster a supportive, faith-filled environment where children are encouraged to take risks, explore ideas, and develop the skills and mindset of lifelong learners and future leaders.
Junior HIgh
At Infant Jesus of Prague, our Junior High Division (Grades 6–8) serves as the capstone of the elementary experience, guiding students toward high school with confidence, independence, and a strong moral foundation. The junior high faculty works collaboratively to support each child’s growth—academically, socially, and spiritually—while fostering leadership and responsibility. Students experience a dynamic, departmentalized structure that allows them to learn from subject-area specialists, helping them build adaptability, organization, and self-advocacy.
Instruction across all subject areas emphasizes critical thinking, communication, and real-world application. In mathematics, students strengthen problem-solving and reasoning skills, applying concepts to everyday situations while developing precision and confidence. English Language Arts centers on effective communication, purposeful writing, and reading comprehension that deepens understanding across genres and prepares students for high school-level essays, research, and analysis. Social studies connects the past to the present through engaging explorations of world cultures, U.S. history, and civics, helping students understand the world and their role as active citizens. In science, curiosity and inquiry drive learning as students investigate life, physical, and earth sciences through experiments and discovery, seeing how scientific thinking applies to the world around them.
Religion remains at the heart of junior high, guiding students to grow in faith, service, and moral discernment. Through study of Scripture, the life of Jesus, the sacraments, and Catholic social teaching, they come to see faith as a lived experience—expressed through prayer, reflection, and acts of service. Technology, collaboration, and creativity are woven into all areas of learning, and students engage in hands-on projects, lab experiences, and service opportunities that prepare them for high school and beyond. By the end of eighth grade, IJP students leave junior high as capable, compassionate, and confident young leaders ready to thrive academically and spiritually in the next stage of their journey.
